Stuck MIDI notes

I all!

I have MIDI stuck notes when I play. Simple as that. It seems to only happen when Qtractor is actually playing. But it happens all the time, I can't play a full measure without either a note not stopping when I release the key, or not playing when I press it. It happens with both my MIDI Keyboards, and in all the polyphonic synth plugins that I use. What can I try to correct this?

check whether one or both of the following are involved:

  1. recording or monitoring MIDI input while playback is under looping range; happens most often when on loop-end and turn-around and note-off dropped due to time-stamp rest (now being relative to the loop-start position);
  2. MIDI queue time drift correction is on and making worse to those events (as in a.)

Wow. So... No MIDI playing in a loop? Hm, harsh. But OK, that allows a workaround (copy and paste the loop over several times to avoid the looping point. So that's still cool :)

Where is this "MIDI queue time drift correction" checkbox? EDIT found it! Nah, changes nothing. Well, I'm trying every "timer" setting, but nope, still a glitch at every loop turn.

i'm leaned towards to not buying this so cheap :)

what glitch?

(my) idea of it is about holding keys (MIDI note-ons) while across loop turnarounds: keys are released after and thus MIDI note-offs get stamped as _before_ the respective onset note-ons (key press) and therefore will get dropped out and miss-triggering an instrument's voice release phase so that you end hearing it as stuck-notes.

in fact, tbh. it's a (known) issue while on existing MIDI clip record/overdubbing AND while looping... it doesn't quite applies to regular MIDI track monitoring/recording, but well, i guess it's not the case at hand here.

then, i don't really know what's going on there, sorry.

but willing to help anyways.

does the recorded material makes any evidence of this issue? if yes, then share its context (session file) and point the precise spots where things are or seems to be going south... :)

I know :) thanks!

No! That's the good news. But still.

Well, in this part of my latest video it's quite clear, WYHASIWYG (hear & see WYSIWIG: True live recording) and note (VMPK input is Qtractor's MIDI bus BTW, and IIRC I had to monitor it) that it seems to only affect the playback, which (if it's confirmed) a big relief :) still, I'd really like to track and squash that nasty bug, it's really not helping in writing licks on the fly, it can even ruin the whole process ; As I say it's been going on for a long time, ie several versions of my OS.
