- mute a clip?
see Region gain/clip gain and input trim, on setting gain=-70dB (audio) or volume=0% (midi).

- mute a note?
you don't just mute a note. you may set it's velocity to a minimum value (which is 1; velocity=0 is usually synonymous to a note-off event) and that might do what you want, however it depends on the target instrument or sound generator to comply with that. anyway, if you don't want the note to be heard, don't put it there. simple as that.

Just to explain our reasoning: The reason for wanting to mute a note is that, if you have a note pattern (in a loop), muting a note here and there would be a way to quickly try out different notesequences without throwing the note away and having to create it again every time if the sequence does not please you.

Same goes for copying clips and wanting small variations in the note sequences by muting some clips.

thanks - talk to you, bye,
