Contacting Rui

Hi,
I'm trying to contact Rui, I emailed him at rncb@rncbc.org but the email was rejected.
Does anyone know how I can email Rui?

Thanks,
Jick

Hi, I'm Rui :) This might be a good place to contact me for a start :)

The problem with the mail address is that it is incorrect and invalid: it's missing a 'c' before the 'at' sign. I guess you got that mail address from the linuxsampler.org site where it is misspelled that way.

If not a private conversation, you can go on here, of course.

Cheers

I have a 6ch C-Media CMI8738 (model 55) at 0x7000, irq 17 and I get jack to work but it only sees 2 outputs even though the sound is coming out of 4 speakers. I also get DJPlay to work but can't configure cue monitor outputs because I only have two playback channels to connect to. Here is the message log for Jack when I start it

Pleas help me to configure Jack to recognize all output channels so I can have two master outputs and two headphone outputs for cueing.

rncbc's picture

what is the number of input and output channels on setup/settings? is it "(default)" ? maybe if you set output channels to 4 it will do, but... however, this kind of issue is suspciously related to that specific device alsa driver capabilities and not much related to jack's per se.

cheers

Hi Rui, I thank you for your quick response. I tried Default at first then I tried setting output channels to 4 and still got the same result. Today I purchased an SB Audigy SE sound card installed it and Jack started without errors but I still got the same result, only 2 output channels. Could I be missing modules or drivers of some sort? It's unfortunate because all seems to be working with DJPlay but I can't get headphone outputs to cue with. I really want to get away from Windows and appreciate all the help you can give me to succeed in doing so. I will be trying on an other computer tomorrow in case the PC could be at fault and I'll post my results.
Thank's
Gilles

i noticed you're using jack2 d-bus interface. maybe there's a hidden bug in either qjackctl or in jack2 d-bus server configuration logic which are quite different from classic jackd command line interface. would you mind trying with the latter? turn qjackctl/setup/misc/enable d-bus interface off and restart?

cheers

I have tried both but I'll have a go at it again with different options when I get back from work. By the way can you explain to me the monitor output options usage? Also if the sound card and all it's outputs are recognized by maverick 10.10 in audio options (is this ALSA controlled or Pulse Audio) should Jack not see the same thing and are these options what decides what the rest of the system is seeing? In thinking that, I put the Sound options to 5.1ch, then 4ch and tried both with Output only on all default and still got two System inputs showing in Jack.
Again thank you for answering my numerous questions. I can't wait to get this right so I can explore the full potential of Jack connections and associated apps.
