QTractor issue with loop mode and paste repeatedly

Dear Rui,

I am running the latest git version qtractor-0.7.1.22git.821679 on Xubuntu 14.04 64bit with Qt4.

1.) When I create e.g a 4 bar midi drum track and set it to loop mode, playback stops after 2-3 cycles. I didn't experience this behaviour before. Do I misunderstand something (after my experiences I don't dare to talk about bugs anymore)?

2.) I add some note events in a new clip. Then I select all events, copy and paste these as usual, therefore creating some new bars in that clip. Everything is fine. The event list actualizes properly. But if I reach a larger number of bars after pasting, it doesn't work anymore.

The same happens if I copy some bars and paste them using the command "paste repeatedly" (e.g. 100). The events which should be pasted show up but can't be moved. The event list only shows the last bar's events and leaves a gap in between.

I am thankful for any suggestions.

Greetings, Michael

you're still welcome to report any misbehavior, glitches and whatever it might be a lurking bug in there, all the time. i hope.

now for the issue at hand, i guess it's a too vague one but annoying nevertheless. a) can you repeat it consistently? b) if yes, would you try whether having "Transport/Continue Past End" option has something to do with it, that if playback will exit the loop after the few cycles when it used to stop before? c) check whether "View/Options.../MIDI/Enable MIDI queue time drift correction" is in anyway an option at stake? thanks in advance.

maybe this is related to the auto-extending the MIDI clip while inserting new events after the original ending right-edge ie. beyond the current MIDI clip length. IIRC, there's a slack of at least 4 bars beyond that auto-extend limit, i guess anything that goes after will have a hard time to get nailed properly, so to speak :)

as a workaround please test whether making a MIDI clip large enough--by drag-and-moving its right-edge for instance--before doing those paste-repeat operations in the MIDI clip editor.

Dear Rui,
of course you were completely right:

1.) Loop mode works fine if "Transport/Continue Past End" is activated.
2.) I can paste as much as I want (at least 9 billion bars, didn't get further last night) if I increase the size of the clip poroperly.

Thank you and my best wishes, Michael

of course you were completely right:
- thanks, but not that completely yet :)

1.) Loop mode works fine if "Transport/Continue Past End" is activated.
- this has been fixed on git head (v0.7.1.23+) so that you may have loops beyond session content length and not on transport/continue-pas-end mode.
