in qtractor parlance, Markers are labeled locations that may set along the timeline, for example to tell the location of the verse, chorus, bridge of a song or whatever to freely identify a timeline section...
now, what you're probably after is about range or rectangle mode selection (see menu Edit > Select Mode options)...
you may select the region you want to edit, delete, move, etc. by just lclick+drag with the mouse (kinda lasso selection);
you can also set a start and end locations by left-clicking and an end location by right-clicking on the time-ruler header resp. then you can hit Edit > Select > Track Range (Ctrl+Shift+R) or Range (Ctrl+R), where the later selects all contents in the range between the start (aka. Edit-head blue marker) and end (aka. Edit-tail blue marker) locations you set previously (the former applies to the current highlighted track only).
there are too many other ways to make these kind of selections, the above are just a few for you to experiment.
