Summer'15 release frenzy pt.1 - QjackCtl 0.4.0 is out!

Hi all,

as in through the hottest of summers--as southerners can't even wait--here comes part one:

QjackCtl 0.4.0 (summer'15) is out!

though aside that everybody knows this already,

QjackCtl is a (maybe not so any more but) simple Qt application to control the JACK sound server, for the Linux Audio infrastructure.

  • Some windows fixes added (patch by Kjetil Matheussen, thanks).
  • Most advanced Setup/Settings are moved into new Setup/Advanced settings tab; limit range for the real-time priority setting, now having 6 as absolute minimum valid value (after patches by Robin Gareus, thanks).
  • A new top-level widget window geometry state save and restore sub-routine is now in effect (EXPERIMENTAL)
  • Delayed geometry setup for widget windows upon startup has been deprecated and scrapped altogether.
  • Setup/settings dialog tab is going into some layout changes; also got rid of old patchbay auto-refresh timer cruft, which was previously hidden/disabled.
  • New socket names are now automatically inferred from selected client names while on the Patchbay widget, Socket dialog.
  • Fixed for some strict tests for Qt4 vs. Qt5 configure builds.
  • German (de) translation update (by Guido Scholz, thanks).

QjackCtl stands free, still open-source software, distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL) version 2 or later.

Enjoy && have a whole hotta Summer'15 fun!

Hi I have a question re qjackctl-0.4.0. Apparently I got that version o qjackctl just now through updating my apps packages in synaptic.

I am running kxstudio.

I sometimes use qjackctl, because (up until this version) it correctly knows how to use virtual sound devices defined in /etc/asound.conf. Ie in my asound.conf I have a virtual sound device configured, comprising two 8-port PCI sound devices.

With this new version of qjackctl that no longer seems possible Humørikonet frown

I'd like to help out fixing that problem, so I'm downloading qjackctl source code.

Running "aplay -L" (lists physical and virtual sound cards), I get the following output:
Discard all samples (playback) or generate zero samples (capture)
PulseAudio Sound Server
Hoontech SoundTrack Audio DSP24, ICE1712 multi
Default Audio Device

Running "aplay -l" (lists only physical sound cards) I get:
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: DSP24 [Hoontech SoundTrack Audio DSP24], device 0: ICE1712 multi [ICE1712 multi]
Subdevices: 0/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: DSP24 [Hoontech SoundTrack Audio DSP24], device 1: ICE1712 consumer [ICE1712 consumer]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

What I need to be able to is to use the same devices as "aplay -L" shows, not just "aplay -l".

If there's a better forum to discuss this, I'll be happy to switch... thanks in advance

Please discard this comment. I had jackdbus running and that won't work with the virtual sound devices.
