oops, forgot to tell (somewhere, somewhen) that the MIDI metronome and count-in is only featured and applicable to external MIDI sound modules and/or instruments...

IOW. it just doesn't work (as it never worked) on internal MIDI instrument plugins, as I presume you have expected, even though you might insert a multi-timbral MIDI plugin instrument on the default MIDI output bus (Master Out) for the purpose; heck nope!
