ok. mouse middle-button behavior reversal option with re. pc-keyboard modifiers (ie. shift, ctrl) will hopefully get implemented soon.
the reason for the regression is simply about consistency in the UI: you press shift+click to affect the playhead (red), otherwise the edit-head/tail (blue) are the traditional targets--this is rule for all other mouse-buttons and the middle one should not be exempted ;)
however, the new option will only address the middle-button in a first attempt so that its previous behavior can get back to you as you seem to be more comfortable with.
