The Vee One Suite of this old-school software instruments, also self-indicted as the gang of three usual suspects thou being: synthv1, as one polyphonic synthesizer, samplv1, a polyphonic sampler and drumkv1, as one drum-kit sampler, now released into the world, yet still beta.

Not much of any audible changes I must say for this so called fourth beta release though it goes as follows:

• Added application description as freedesktop.org's AppData.
• Introducing LV2 port-groups (as proposed by Amadeus Folego aka. badosu, thanks).
• Improved envelope widget nodes click-and-drag precision.
• Introducing a brand new user preference on eye-candy: cf. Help/Configure.../Options/Custom style theme (applies to the JACK stand-alone client only though).
• Envelope and filter now rendered with anti-aliased lines.
• Fixed a Qt5 FTBFS re. QHeaderView::set[Section]ResizeMode().

Every couple of years I decide to do some spring cleaning, a bit early this time, perhaps...

And then again I stepped into this kind of pure nineties junkyard synth that's still powering on here and then with great joy. And that's happening on every PCI sound-card slot that can be found around here. All about that Yamaha DB50XG (nb. fact is Yamaha doesn't list it on the product archives anymore, so this might be all just archaeology by now...)

Nevertheless, here it goes again:

QXGEdit 0.2.0 is out!

QXGEdit is a live XG instrument editor, specialized on editing MIDI System Exclusive files (.syx) for the Yamaha DB50XG and thus probably a baseline for many other XG devices.

Once again, the Vee One Suite of old-school software instruments, featuring a gang of three made of synthv1, as a polyphonic synthesizer, samplv1, a polyphonic sampler and drumkv1, as a drum-kit sampler, are being released into the wild as in so called beta phase.

Changes for this one third beta release are as follows:

• MIDI bank-select/program-changes is now supported, for patch, preset and/or instrument program control.
• New Help/Configure dialog is introduced for editing the also new MIDI bank/programs interface and user preference options as well (new home of the old Help/Use native dialogs option).
• Presets may now be specified by base name, as an alternative to the complete preset file-path on command line argument (re. stand-alone JACK client).
• Fixed parameters A/B comparison swap.

As usual, all made available in dual form:

• a pure stand-alone JACK client with JACK-session, NSM (Non Session management) and both JACK MIDI and ALSA MIDI input support;
• a LV2 instrument plug-in.

The Vee One Suite are free and open-source Linux Audio software, distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL) version 2 or later.

Aw, snap!

Wait, there's no big deal (nor chromium's) cosmic (mis)alignment being announced here now. Rest calm. Sorry to delude some of you :)

But, there's one (notable) leap on this tiny side and part of the universe... (or is it a multiverse? move along...) What I really want to tell is all about this happening and none else's freaking business:

• Latch/momentary MIDI Controllers toggle mode (NEW)
• JACK client/port pretty-name (metadata) support (NEW)
• Custom style and color themes (NEW)
• Mixer strip multi-row layout (NEW)
• Muted audio tracks monitoring on playback (FIX)
• Clip fade-in/out resize on time-stretch (FIX)

Well, although this being yet another milestone--if one may call it that way--it also makes it official (yes, deeply engraved in stone) and definitive as a migration to Git can be, as for source-code control and management (it's a dirty job I know, but someone has to do it, right?). Nevermind. It's done.

Meanwhile, please, don't ever hesitate to ask whether any of the above does affect you some way or another. Or maybe anything else, yay? Indeed, the puzzled you feel, the better :)

• JACK client/port pretty-name (metadata) support is being introduced and seamlessly integrated with old Connections client/port aliases editing (rename) (refactored from an original patch by Paul Davis, thanks). (EXPERIMENTAL)
• Application close confirm warning is now raising the main window as visible and active for due top level display, especially applicable when minimized to the system tray.
• Messages standard output capture has been slightly improved as for non-blocking i/o, whenever available.
• Translations install directory change.
• Allow the build system to include an user specified LDFLAGS.
• Missing input/output-latency parameter settings now settled for the D-BUS controlled JACK server and firewire back-end driver.

nb. Despite the old Qt4 stance, but still recommended, Qtractor does build, runs and does it all on Qt5 for quite some time now. However, the former recommendation prevails as the despicable LV2 plugin GUI X11/embedding support through libSUIL just does NOT work on modern Qt5.

The changes for this one second beta release are the following:

• Fixed LV2 plugin relative/absolute file path state resolution. (drumkv1 only).
• One decimal digit added to all scalar parameters and knobs.
• Stand-alone JACK client ports outrageously renamed from a zero based numbering scheme into a plus one natural one.
• Experimental LV2 Time/position atom-event support (Delay BPM).

Please, don't hesitate to ask whether any of the above esoteric babbles doesn't get you on to update as soon as you can. One special note goes for all the users out there of drumkv1 LV2 genre: the update is not just interesting but a must, seriously ;).

As usual, all is available in dual form:

• a pure stand-alone JACK client with JACK-session, NSM (Non Session management) and both JACK MIDI and ALSA MIDI input support;
• a LV2 instrument plug-in.
