I think I've found a workable way to solve the problem of not being able to use bus faders for aux sends.
Add a checkbox to the properties of the aux sends:
[ X ]Apply track/bus gain/pan values to the aux send.
It would work like this:
Before applying the "send gain," it would take the current gain value (just the number) and apply the same gain formula used by the bus. The same goes for panning.
Then, the send gain of the aux send itself would be applied.
I think this functionality is generally interesting for many purposes:
+ Being able to automate the gain of multiple aux sends by automating only the fader...
+ Sends to effects (parallel buses): the overall volume of the send would automatically change when moving the fader, leaving the gain of the aux send itself as a percentage of the signal to be processed.
And above all:
Being able to use the bus faders to control the sends to MixBus. Furthermore, if the auxiliary sends are located at the end of the chain, which is the intention when sending for mixing purposes, applying the same algorithms as the original faders will ensure reliable volume measurements.
I know it's feasible, it's not problematic, and it doesn't affect the current session structure or audio engineering. I'll leave it up to you... but I, at least, am relieved. After much devising a solution, I finally came up with it.
