Hello,

I tend to use the MIDI editor extensively, adding and editing notes one at a time. Something I grew accustomed to in old sequencer software from two decades ago is the ability to step through a pattern a single note at a time, just for confirmation while making changes.

I know that Qtractor can step through a pattern by snap units (Beat, Beat/2, etc.), but is it possible to step along by the notes themselves, whatever their duration?

Activity on the forum has been picking up again so I figure it's a good time to share a little gem of a move I recently discovered in the Connections panel.

My sessions tend to make heavy use of connections. As I was settling into the workflow, I had been using the panel to establish connections on a 1 to 1 basis. Sure, you look for little tricks to speed things up like the ALT-C mapping for Connect and you zig-zag left to right, right-left, left-right..... in order to connect dozens of things. Then I tried something bold!

Edit On / Edit Off as a Toggle?

Here's something I've been pondering. Within the MIDI editor Select Mode context menu are Edit On and Edit Off. It strikes me that these are mutually exclusive, and hence could be implemented as a toggle. (I find myself bouncing back and forth repeatedly between these two while entering and editing notes within the MIDI editor.

By making this pair a toggle, one could then assign a single hotkey to them, say INS. A small tag could appear in the Status Bar at the bottom of the screen indicating which state the Select Mode is currently in.

I forgot to mention that the bug occurs in the official installed version, and the compiled one, but not in the AppImage. Which suggests that it is not Qtractor.

I've moved to Ubuntu Studio and the lv2 presets dont working.

They are saved correctly in the .lv2 directory, they are displayed correctly in the preset list, but they do not load the configuration.

Feature Wish: Octave transpose shortcut buttons

Here's something which is not crucial, but would be handy. In the Clip/Tools/Transpose dialog box, I wish there were standard buttons for Octave+ and Octave- next to the interval spinner box. These would allow the user to quickly transpose up or down by an octave.

I usually compose string bass parts one octave higher than where they'll eventually be played, just so my tired old ears can hear the notes clearly and accurately. Once happy, I then drop everything down an octave to where the notes ought to be.

I've seen this incident of yours on github, and I know what happened.

You opened the folder and/or file manager in Qtractor. This shifted the left margin.
You corrected it, you put the margin where you wanted.

When you closed the folders and/or files, it logically shifted back.

When you corrected it again, it was back in its correct position.

Motive:
libjack-dev and libjack-jackd2-dev were conflicting. I've removed libjack-dev after finding that Qtractor compiles without it.
