Okay, Rui!
At the moment I am working on music where I have many tracks and rhythm and cutting clips to precision. Stumbled upon three issues. Report them with my suggestions for your inspection.
1. When moving clips, their content is not displayed, only the border.
Which is not very convenient if you need to SEE where the clip is landing. Ardour has got it right, I think, more or less. In Ardour it is pretty easy to move clips to precision.
2. Waveforms in clips do not seem to be drawn accurately at the borders.
At times you would split the clip right at the tip of the wave, the clip which is supposed to be just silence would show part of the tip. When you playback - it is silent, so it seems you cut it correctly. Dunno what to suggest here. Just want the clips to have accurately drawn waveforms so that I am sure what is going on.
3. If you select a group of clips, drag them and then drop - they get deselected.
This is extremely inconvenient, because if you dropped the clips in a wrong place, in order to correct the mistake, you have to go and select everything again. If the group is large, it really slows down your work. Even if it is a pair of clips, it slows you down for no good reason.
My suggestion would be to not automatically deselect group of selected clips after dropping them. Let the user deselect them himself.
Cheers!
Re: Manipulating clips
1. When moving clips, their content is not displayed, only the border.
correct. changing that, to show clip contents while dragging, is not that simple atm. it needs a lot of work i'm afraid. and i don't have much time for just that :)
2. Waveforms in clips do not seem to be drawn accurately at the borders.
correct. waveforms are just a hint of the clip contents. do not assume it is drawn accurately (as in a serious wave editor would do) because they aren't :)
3. If you select a group of clips, drag them and then drop - they get deselected.
correct. and i know this well. contrary to the other issues above, i may try to tame this one, sooner or later :)
thanks && cheers
Correcting just 3 will
Correcting just 3 will already be of very big help, thanks Rui!
