So luckily, CASIO started releasing modern 16ch multitimbral devices again (cts-500 like cts-1000v).
I bought one, to go on a plugin-haitus, and focus again on simplistic sequencing to one soundmodule.
However, I'm wondering what is the best way to specify MSB/LSB/pgchanges for a midiclip..
Reason: when I change a patch on my CASIO, it automatically emits these values:
questions:
1) Is Qtractor automatically writing MSB/LSB/PGchange values (defined in instrument-setting) to the midi 'header' (when exporting a midi-file)
2) Simplest way to enter these values into the channel-specific instrument settings?
3) Simples way to enter these values into a midi clip?
4) Can I create a 'CASIO'-named instrument without an .ins file?
5) Can I specify a sysex event at a certain time in a midiclip?
ps. some words of appreciation: during my search for a modern midisequencer, I finally ended up with qtractor.
Qtractor strikes a nice balance between simplicity and interoperability (the project-directory with midi-files is perfect for remote collaborators, which use other software).
I have used Ardour, Rosegarden, Muse, Zrythm, seq66, LMMS etc..however their midi-support and soundfont-workflow felt not as streamlined as with Qtractor.
I also really like the fact that midiclips can be looped (CTRL+drag).
re. tips regarding MSB/LSB/pgchange...
these are set at MIDI track properties level, as bank_select (MSB,LSB) and program-change fields.
however, you should know that in qtractor model, these properties, are always enforced to absolute time zero when saving/writing/exporting to .mid files
interleaved bank_select/pgm-change events may appear on imported clip sequences and will playback accordingly; however, only the first set on the respective track/channel properties will be ever meaningful, later on and specially after you modify and save... all original interleaved bank_select/pgm-change's will get dropped and stripped out from the saved .mid file.

ps. and thanks for the kind appreciation words.
