Not a crazy hypothesis at all... although, I'd argue the track strips are not being targeted; only the bus strips. In other words, I can scroll past the highlighted track (putting it out of view) and the "jump" doesn't yank back to the track... only the bus.
That said, I'm not going to start changing window managers and whatnot in order to troubleshoot. I may as well put on a different pair of socks or give my cat a new nickname.... heh. It's just the wrong way to go about troubleshooting a software problem like this. What's really needed is to run qtractor in some kind of verbose logging mode but it would only make sense if that "focus" event was actually being logged.
