rtirq

Hey,
I was told that rtirq depends on the kernel used!!
I'm using kernel26rt-2.6.26.5_rt9...

The "snd" particle is just one special and generic symbol that represents ANY or all of your internal sound-cards, in case you have more than one (I do have 3:). Of course you can now replace "snd" with your specific sound-card name (eg. "'HDA Intel'" or just "Intel") but take care that's only feasible on latest kernel-rt >= 2.6.31-rt and rtirq >= 20090920.

Cheers

Actually the snd service name does not work properly, because the soundcard name does not always match the interrupt name:

---- rtirq.sh
start :: snd :: M Audio Audiophile 24/96 :: 85 :: 20
start :: snd :: SB Live! 5.1 [SB0060] (rev.7, serial:0x80611102) :: 84 :: 19
start :: snd :: HDA Intel :: 83 :: 30
Setting IRQ priorities: start [HDA Intel] irq=30 pid=1649 prio=83: OK.
---- /proc/interrupts
19: ... IO-APIC-fasteoi uhci_hcd:usb5, EMU10K1, ide0, ide1
20: ... IO-APIC-fasteoi ICE1712
30: ... PCI-MSI-edge HDA Intel
----

So the device I actually care about, the ICE1712, doesn't get altered.

rtirq should touch all the 3 sound-cards you seem to have: "HDA Intel", "M Audio Audiophile 24/96" (ICE1712) and the "SB Live! 5.1" (EMU10K1), not necessarily in this order. However it looks like it's only the HDA Intel that gets honored. Is that true?

Just leaving a message to say that rtirq really enhanced my audio production experience. With the help of this script I managed to further stabilize my systems and they're pretty rock solid now. So, many thanks!!

Best,

Jeremy

@AudioStatic

Way to go.

Now its your turn to give back and help the script :) You must have noticed the lack of a lousy README, ain't you? How about helping me putting one together? ;) Sure this uber-procrastinator of yours will give you (yet another) thankful and kind appreciation, indeed.

(No joking. someone should really put down a pen on this little tiny beast)

Cheers

Hello Rui,

I already wrote a simple Dutch howto for rtirq so an English README should be possible. But as I am in the middle of a renovation, about to become a father, playing in two bands, preparing a DJ set for New Year's Eve and writing/composing for myself I hope I can find the time to do so...

Awe! Happy new year, already!

Hello Rui, best wishes to you too! I'd like to donate to the rtirq script because it was the final step in gaining full control over my systems. What is the best way to do so? Otherwise I'll donate to Qtractor again and specify that it's actually about rtirq.

Best,

Jeremy

Your donation is perfectly welcome ntl, only if that doesn't compromise your accepted challenge ;)

Happy holidays!

No it won't :) And you too, happy holidays!
