Hi,
I am enjoying Qtractor immensely.
I am working on editing an audio recording file. I need to remove from the recorded audio file parts that I do not wish to include in my final result. I am struggling to understand the best practices in Qtractor to accomplish this result.
It seems to me that I would put a mark of some kind where I want to begin highlighting the section I want to remove, find the end of the section I want to remove, highlight this section, and delete it. I am unable to find a marker of some kind to place where I want to highlight a section to edit by removing it.
Do I hold the correct understanding of how Qtractor is designed to highlight recorded file sections? If so, how is this accomplished? If not, what are the best practices to mark a section of a recorded file?
Thanks,
SHD
re. Adding Markers...
hi, you're welcome
in qtractor parlance, Markers are labeled locations that may set along the timeline, for example to tell the location of the verse, chorus, bridge of a song or whatever to freely identify a timeline section...
now, what you're probably after is about range or rectangle mode selection (see menu Edit > Select Mode options)...
you may select the region you want to edit, delete, move, etc. by just lclick+drag with the mouse (kinda lasso selection);
you can also set a start and end locations by left-clicking and an end location by right-clicking on the time-ruler header resp. then you can hit Edit > Select > Track Range (Ctrl+Shift+R) or Range (Ctrl+R), where the later selects all contents in the range between the start (aka. Edit-head blue marker) and end (aka. Edit-tail blue marker) locations you set previously (the former applies to the current highlighted track only).
there are too many other ways to make these kind of selections, the above are just a few for you to experiment.
hth.
cheers
Thanks for the response. I…
Thanks for the response.
I will work through your instructions in the coming days. It seems like I have what I need for now based on my cursory review of your writing.
Kindest Regards,
