Need help bouncing midi to audio using M-Audio Fast Track Pro

My question: How can I "bounce" my midi tracks in Qtractor to audio tracks?
My setup: M-Audio Fast Track Pro, Qtractor, Yamaha s90ES external synth.
My problem: I cannot figure out how to get the audio that is produced when playing the midi tracks to be recorded to an audio track in Qtractor.

first you need to connect qtractor midi out to your outboard synth midi input--i guess you have this setup working--then getting your synth audio output into some line-in of your soundcard and then recording it into an audio track would be my suggestion.

  1. get midi played by qtractor be sent to synth:
qtractor (midi track -> midi out bus) --(alsa_midi)--> m-audio fast track pro (midi out) --> yamaha s90es (midi in)
  2. get audio played by synth recorded into qtractor:
yamaha s90es (audio out) --> m-audio fast track pro (audio in) --(jack_audio:capture)--> qtractor (audio in bus -> audio track)
  3. hth.

Thanks for the reply.

Part 1. of your answer, as you said, works. I can lay down midi tracks, and listen to them through the headphone jack on the Fast Track Pro. The keyboard is producing the midi sounds and sending its audio to the FTPro via normal 1/4 inch audio cables. In my Connections box within qtractor, I do not see the FTPro listed as a possible Readable Client/Output Port. Only qtractor is listed as a possible output port. I tried making a connection between qtractor master out to qtractor's master in. Any idea how I could get qtractor to see the FTPro as a possible audio producing source? I would send a screenshot, but I can't see how to attach one to this post.

The part I don't understand is (jack_audio:capture)...I've got the s90es out to ftpro in...then what, specifically? (Sorry for the noob-ness of the question!).

jack_audio:capture stands for the jack system:capture_1, 2, ... readable ports that represent your physical soundcard audio inputs; you should have jackd configured for capture and playback (duplex), though

Well, even before I got your reply, I went into Jack Control / Settings and set the input and output devices to "hw:1,1", which is listed as "USB audio #1". I had had it set to "hw:1" which was listed as "FastTrack Pro." You can see perhaps why I was confused.

Thanks for your help!
