Idea: newly created tracks default to previous track settings.

After having had a chance to use qtractor a little bit more, primarily recording audio tracks, I had a thought: the workflow when recording multiple tracks of the same type could be improved substantially by having newly created track settings default to those of the last created track. Iirc, this is how Ardour worked back when I last used it, or possibly it let you specify default settings... either way, I remember it being a matter of a couple keystrokes to get a new track ready to roll. Would this fit the qtractor design philosophy?

as for audio tracks and re. audio bus assignments this is somewhat already coped in svn trunk aka. v0.5.11.15+, after a similar idea that change-log gives someone else credit ;)

  • When adding new tracks, try preserving the last selected bus names, while not the default Master ones (after a suggestion from danboid aka. Daniel MacDonald, thanks).

(as seen in linuxmusicians.com: danboid's qtractor wishlist boils over ;))

cheers

Thanks, I should have known the rapid rate of qtractor mutation was way ahead of me. ;)

In addition to retaining the bus names, it would be nice to have a remembered default setting in the "Audio/Midi" selection, since as it is, you always have to make a selection anyway. If it guessed wrong, you're no worse off... alternately, separate key bindings defaulting to audio vs. midi track creation would work, too, if that's preferable somehow...
