Problem with default sourceforge file, qjackctl-0.3.4

Hi Rui,

Been awhile since I last visited.

I just downloaded qjackctl-0.3.4, from the default download site at sourceforge, I tried about three times, & each time, the file would not extract. I finally went to a mirror site (U.K.), & obtained a workable copy (well, I actually have yet to field test it, but I got it installed along with the latest jack & Ardour 2.7. I did this because I "upgraded" to Ubuntu 8.10 from 8.04.1 & had to do a clean install). Just thought I would let you know, so you might check this out, if you are so inclined.

Regards,
Henry

Re: Problem with default sourceforge file, qjackctl-0.3.4

The default sourceforge file as you say (http://downloads.sourceforge.net/qjackctl/qjackctl-0.3.4.tar.gz) downloads and extracts perfectly fine here. Maybe it's a mirror issue, but can't really testify that because it just works for me ;)

Cheers

jack plugin support

Hi,
qjackctl and qtractor are both great applications, however, one really important feature in a DAW designed to work with jack is the ability to connect other jack clients to insert points within the audio channels on the mixer. Ardour does this and I don't think qtractor does (I confess I don't have the latest version). But it would be great if it could, then it would be possible to connect jack based plugins / jack clients into the mixer channels rather than just being able to connect jack clients to the output of qtractor. I've developed a set of jack plugins that work well in this way, it would be great to be able to use them in qtractor as well / instead of just LADSPA ones.

Thanks.

Re: jack plugin support

Yes, this *is* on the TODO list: (cf. Audio effect send/return aux. inserts.). Indeed, the way I'm planning is about having a special kind of plugin entry, not materialized as a shareable object but strictly internal, which purpose is to get inserted and expose its dedicated output and input ports to the outside worl. That way you'll have access to qtractor's internal signal path, tap it, route it through regular jack connections to one or more of your so-called jack plugins and get it all fed back in.

As said, this is planned. As always, I really can't tell when I get the time to really do it. Maybe you can step in and give a hand or push? You'll be more than welcome ;)

Cheers.

Re: Direct Note Access technology

Melodyne is a great product and surely is a great tool that targets one niche problem domain; amalgamating the best of both worlds together, audio and MIDI. Being real-time is key to its prompt success, absolutely. That is and still is its world class advantage and that's a good thing, nevertheless.

Now, back in the open-source/free-software side of the trench, if one can say that without raising eyebrows, there are a few great and fairly awesome tools that approach the same problem, but in quite different and general ways. One could say it's better, with a broader audience, but that's just me telling you a bunch of BS :)

Having that said, please have a look to Sonic Visualiser for a starter. It might have the foundation and the what not you're after. Bear in mind, it's not Melodyne, and never it can or would. Says me :)

Byee

hello hello

remark. i'd appologize a 'copy track' somewhere in between 'add track' and 'remove track'.
and, of course, thanks for your work! your baby rocks!

What is best place for qsampler bug reports?

Previously I reported to the linuxsampler bugtracker. Only few times ago I got to know, that there other (SVN) place, which, I think, is nearest for you (rncbc). But speaking about reports, I found this feature only at sourceforge.

Re: What is best place for qsampler bug reports?

You can do either on linuxsampler.org or sourceforge.net or even both. :) But for community sake I would recommend the former, in the first place :)

What is the bug?

Cheers

starting jack with jack control....

G'day!

I've been using jack for a while now with 2 channel soundcards in duplex mode. Lately, I've switched to using an audio8dj card which has 8 channel duplex capabilities. I'd like to continue using jack control with this device as it provides a very handy gui to mess around with connections. However, I cannot seem to get jackd to start with this new configuration.

At this point, I'm able to start jackd from a command line with the follow:

/usr/bin/jackd -r -nDJ8 -dalsa -r 96000 -p256 -i8 -o8 -dttable

...which works great. However, it seems that since I'm not able to select the correct interface in the jack control setup... I cannot invoke jackd with jack control in any way/shape/form. Check the last post on this thread: http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=74006 to see my .asoundrc file, if it helps.

Perhaps there's a way to have jack control connect to an already running jack instance? Or alternately.. is there a way to give it my jack command line which works, and have it run with those options?

Warm Regards,
.:triune.
