Greetings,
This is the first time I believe I've seen this behavior so I'll attach a few screenshots to help explain.
I have a clip I'm editing which begins at 5.3.000
. The clip extends to measure 38 and I'm looping an area of interest as I tweak things. The MIDI Editor's Follow playhead
is disabled as I don't want my view to change during playback. The 'midi-editor-1.png` screenshot shows what I have just described.
If I add a note, move a note, or delete a note, the view "snaps back". As the midi-editor-2.png
screenshot shows, the MIDI Editor view has snapped back to the beginning of the clip.

re. MIDI editor snaps back when manipulating note(s)...
hi, failed to reproduce the issue...
when does it snap back exactly?
is it when you raise the MIDI editor ie. double-click the current selected clip on main track's view, or hit, possibly via a keyboard shortcut as I think you have many, to main menu Clip > Edit... ?
if yes then that's probably the cause for it to show somewhere else than the last time: it takes into account the place you hit with the pointer or where the clip appears on main view.

As shown in the image, the…
As shown in the image, the MIDI Editor window is already open. The view "snaps" back when a note is added, moved, or deleted. This behavior only occurs when working in a smaller area of the overall clip; defined by the loop markers.
I suppose I haven't seen the behavior up until now because I usually split my area of interest into a (smaller) clip and seldomly work with a large clip (as discussed here).
have no clue of what's…
have no clue of what's happening then, sorry...
there must be something else... :)
can you reproduce it at will and make a screen-cast video of it, please?
