solo(ing) is a track state, it is not a clip one, so it makes no sense to show a track control (solo) on the clip editor, imho.
although there's this independent clip-mute property/state, which in fact was proposed by you iirc. there is no clip-solo state, and never will (at least on my watch:)

As I wrote before I found a solution by assigning the solo function to a MIDI Note On. Since the track is selected when I edit a clip that works fine.
I agree that a solo button in the midi editor is an "alien" because it affects the track, not the midi clip. But the whole transport block is also an alien.
You can include an OSC command as a keyboard shortcut for applications in the XFCE keyboard settings, or you can add a launcher with the command to the panels.
Since it doesn't depend on the window focus, it works well, in the case of a keyboard shortcut, as if it were native to Qtractor.
I have a TEK2 MIDI controller. Since the track is always selected when editing a MIDI clip, all I have to do is assign the solo function to a Note On event. Problem solved.
