The .deb in the sourceforge.net is indeed only for the Intel 32bit architecture, mainly because I do have one instance of Kubuntu 8.04 under a VirtualBox in a non-x86_64 capable laptop.

However, one of those days I'll try to have a go on a 64bit debian based distro. meanwhile you'll be better served if you build it from CVS source, from which you'll get the first-hand chance to help development.
