How do I add additional input channels?
Just create new input-only buses.

If your intent is about recording from several inputs simultaneously, you'll have to create one bus for each input and then assign each bus to the target track on input.

Don't worry, this layout will be saved in the session file as well the corresponding connections, so that you don't need to do that all over again. You can even save the session while it has no recorded material as a template for future sessions, provided you manage with distinct file names.
