Is it OK to export a clipped 32 bit float WAV, then bring the level down in Audacity later (i.e. no data loss occurs)?
yes, that's the kind of reasoning i've tried to explain earlier--non-float/integer sample formats will hard-clip every peak sample above 0dBfs, and they'll indeed store/write the distorted value into the file without mercy.
