Greetings,
These are the only two modes I currently use in my workflow. I bind Select Mode/Automation to a and Select Mode/Clip to Shift-a. This is perfectly fine but I do fumble from time to time in my attempt to select a clip when I forget I'm in Automation mode. Again, not a show stopper. That said, here's the feature request.
- When Select Mode/Clip is enabled, the mouse cursor is rendered as usual.
- When Select Mode/Automation is enabled, a different mouse cursor is rendered as to make it clear what mode is active.
- A single keybinding (shortcut) is made available that toggles between the two modes. (In my case, I'd just stick with a)
Thoughts?
re.Toggle between Select Mode/Automation and Select Mode/Clip...
hi,
sounds like very similar to what you asked some time ago for Edit/Select Mode/Edit Off, Edit On, Edit Draw, while on the MIDI clip editor (piano-roll)... isn't it?

Yep, very much. Was thinking…
Yep, very much.
Was thinking more about this and the request could even better lend itself to the other select modes (Range, Rectangle) if the toggle switched to previous select mode. That way, someone who works with those modes as part of their workflow wouldn't be left out in the cold.
F1 F2
I use these 2 modes "clip" and "automation" only, so I use F1 and F2 to change the edit mode.
Yep, you're in the same…
Yep, you're in the same situation as I'm in. It works fine, but you'll occasionally "miss" selecting a clip because you forgot you were in Automation mode.
re.Toggle between Select Mode/Automation and Clip, Range etc...
you may test now with v1.5.8.5git.ca5ba2f [develop]
also then you can now drop and liberate one of the shortcuts; eg. Edit/Select Mode/Automation will revert to the last recently used Clip, Range or Rectangle modes, when toggled.
ps. cursor shape is not implemented though and not a priority this time ;)
